Home alarm systems are a bother. They cost so much, no guarantee they would always work, and quite a hassle to maintain. But when need arises, home alarm systems are critical safety measures. It’s crucial to determine your security needs before you begin scouring the market for home an alarm system.

Surveying the Home Alarm System coverage

Assess which area that you wish for the home alarm system to cover. The more the areas to cover the expensive it gets. Also, manually choose the routing of wires. The electrician can do it for you but it is your home. You might want to hide those wires or staple it along edges. Hard-wiring the system is a reliable option but the least reprogrammable or customizable. One option is the wireless technology.

Determine where the control panels should be. If you have a two storey house, you might want to have two control panels, one on your bedroom and one downstairs. Remember, the control panel commands the entire home alarm system. You might want it near where it will most likely turn off (most cases is the bedroom) and one downstairs if you are downstairs. Sometimes, a single control panel will do. A control panel overrides the Home Alarm System, so don’t install it where it can most likely be tampered.

Factors to be considered

A monitored security system is also an option if you want your property to be monitored 24 hours a day. This central monitoring station ‘watches’ your home for an exclusive monthly fee, check out your local supplier if you’re interested. Another less expensive alternative is a home alarm system with a dialer accessory that automatically connects to your phone lines and dials the pre-selected emergency numbers if the house’s security is breached. For fire alarm systems, this is always necessary.

Consider your family’s lifestyle. Do some family members leave and arrive at the middle of the night? Or do you have a pet that could likely trigger the alarm? These factors should influence the set up of your home alarm system. Cats always pose a problem for triggering alarms on windows. Likewise, dogs could set off your motion detectors. If you have the budget, some high tech gadgetry can allow intelligent weight recognition. Otherwise, a clever wiring to hard to reach areas but that can still trigger the alarm system should be done.

A protected front door control panel is an option for late arriving family members. Make sure it is well protected though or it will be easily tampered with. Some systems also have alarms for tampering.

Home alarm systems are a great security addition, but it requires proper approach for it to work the way you want it to be. Always do a bit of research before you choose a specific system.

The ADT alarm system is one of the leaders in providing electronic home security systems and services in the United States. The ADT alarm system features state of the art, highly advanced and sophisticated security systems and services.

The ADT alarm system is composed of security system, surveillance system or electronic article surveillance (close circuit system), fire detection system, alarm system, gaseous extinguishing systems.

The ADT alarm system is the oldest and one of the largest electronic home security companies in the United States. The American District Telegraphy Company which was founded way back in 1874 is the forerunner of the present ADT alarm systems and service. The American District Telegraphy Company originally offered simple call boxes or telegraphs. At present, the ADT has become the top electronic security company that provides security protection of the top companies, financial institutions and millions of homes in the United States.

The ADT alarm system has four levels of safety measures against burglars. The first level is the “yard sign”. The yard sign serves as a warning to potential burglars. Most burglars are discouraged from committing burglary whenever the house or establishment is advertised with the alarm system. The second level in the ADT alarm system is the “window decals”. Window decals serve as a secondary warning in case if the burglar has not noticed the yard sign. The third level of the ADT alarm system is the “alarm siren”. A very loud alarm siren will be triggered if unauthorized entry is detected by the ADT alarm system inside the house or establishment. The last level of the ADT alarm system is the “round the clock monitoring”. The ADT alarm system monitors the house or establishment “twenty-four hours a day” and will alert or call the local law enforcement agency if the alarm is triggered.

The ADT alarm system is monitored by highly certified staff. The ADT staffs are trained to manage emergencies such as flood, fire, and carbon monoxide poisoning. The ADT Home Security has an extensive array of equipments available, depending on the request of its clients.

The main product of ADT Home Security is alarm monitoring services. ADT Home Security maintains a centralized monitoring base that collects electronic signals from the ADT alarm systems installed in the United States.

If the security system is triggered, such as an unauthorized entry or intrusion, the security system then sends off a signal to the ADT monitoring station. A monitoring specialist then checks the data that is sent by the security system and the specialist then chooses what type of response the alarm signal requires. In some cases, the monitoring specialist will contact the residence or the owner of the establishment by the use of a telephone to further investigate and determine if the alarm is false or not. If the specialist determines that the situation is not a false alarm, the local police department is then contacted.

Burglars, it is the term used for persons who have an intention of breaking and entering another persons’ house. It is a crime interrelated to theft. If you do not want your house or your business to be burglarized, it is essential that you install a burglar alarm system in your home or business.

Statistics shows that individuals who have no burglar alarm system installed in their home or business tend to be burglarized more than those who have burglar alarm system. On the other hand, there are those who have burglar alarm system install on their properties but still get burglarized because either their system is not very reliable and effective or they forgot to “turn on” their burglar alarm system.

The first good step in protecting your home is by installing a reliable and effective burglar alarm system. There are lots of simple and inexpensive yet very reliable alarm systems out on the market. But having a more sophisticated burglar alarm system is also a good idea.

For better security against burglars, install burglar alarm systems on all of the entry points of your home or business, such as motion sensors, sensors that monitor or detect glass breakage, and for maximum protection, also include smoke and carbon dioxide sensors.

There are two basic types of burglar alarm system. One is a burglar alarm system that sets out loud alarms (usually sirens) and flashing lights on the house of establishment the alarm system is protecting. The other type of burglar alarm system has the same features as the first mentioned, however, it is connected or monitored by a security company twenty-four hours a day. With this kind of alarm system, when the alarm is triggered, an employee (usually these alarm systems are monitory by a computer) of the security company then calls the local law enforcement agency.

The most sophisticated burglar alarm systems have surveillance cameras or close circuit cameras strategically placed on your property or business establishment. Some of the detectors of burglar alarm systems are not only found on windows and doors, they are also found underneath rugs (motion sensors) and all of the rooms inside the house. Some highly sophisticated alarm systems even use laser sensors and heat sensor to detect any unaccounted for movements or change of temperatures.

Studies also show that having a god is one of the most effective measures in preventing burglars. Locks and deadbolts in some rooms are very much recommended to protect you and your love ones at home. Having a security alarm system in your home and business provides peace of mind to most homeowners but always remember to use it consistently or regularly. If you have a security alarm system in your house or establishment don’t forget to arm them.

Because however advance and complicated these systems are, those leather clad techno-geeks always manage to make short work with them. That’s how science fiction goes. But in reality, today’s antitheft alarm systems bites hard. It may look cool on screen but truth it’s the machines that win.

Amid today’s cutting edge technology antitheft alarm systems have gone from competent to supreme. With every possible implementations now imbedded, alarm systems are now capable for every situation that ultimately it falls to whether you need all the extras. There’s no mission impossible to defeat here. Not to mention the staggering price tag it eventually would have. True, when safety is at stake, you are more than ready to shell out more bread. Even then, you still don’t want to pay for those loaded antitheft alarm systems with gizmos you won’t even bother activating.

So what is the best antitheft alarm system for you? To classify, there are 4 basic antitheft alarm systems:

1st Simple alarms are mostly concocted alarms or self installed on windows and doors. They are the cheapest. Upon activation, they set off the alarm.

2nd Local alarms do more. When wires are tripped, they make full alarm blast; some have macros that allow other automation, like turning on lights. Depending on their nature, they can be cheap or expensive.

3rd Automated dialer systems may or may have sirens but what they generally do is dial the pre-selected numbers for help. Automatic dialers have panic buttons, which upon activation will proceed to dial for help.

4th Monitoring systems are 24/7 monitoring services. They cost monthly fees but they are most voted safe due to the continuous monitoring.

So what do you need? If your problems are casual trespassers and intruders, you could go for the first option though you still have to dial the emergency line if things go dire. Simple alarms are cheap. Some designs can be homebrewed (see The Fundamentals of a Burglar Alarm System). If you are mostly away from home, or robberies are a neighborhood problem, then the second or third option is needed. Some antitheft alarm systems are a combination of siren, dialer and automated light control, so be sure to look for one. Take note, these designs cost more since they naturally do more than the standard stuff. Still they are better protection than the standard alarm devices.

The ultimate protection is the monitoring services. They monitor homes 24/7. They are constantly in touch with emergency response teams; some even have their own response unit. Not only they monitor theft activities, they also include fire safety and (on some) personal health safety. For that reason, they can cost astronomical. This antitheft system is best suited for homes that are located in unpopulated areas and with lots of valuables.

Assuredly, the best antitheft alarm systems are out in the market already. It only a matter of choosing the one that is the best for your homes.

Most victims of car theft never considered that it would happen to them. There is about one automobile stolen every twenty seconds in the United States alone. Even in today’s technology, car theft is very rampant. That is why car alarm system manufacturers are always improving their technology and innovating in order to avoid car theft.

Car alarm systems are gadgets that are installed on cars to thwart or discourage theft of cars. Car alarm systems of the early years work by making a loud sound and only. As the years go by, car alarm systems work by disabling the ignition system of the car. Some car alarm systems send a radio signal to the owner thru a beeper. Some car alarms are set off by vibrations, touch, tilting of the car opening or closing of door contacts, small and rapid changes in the voltage of the battery or through infrared sensors and ultrasound sensors.

In some cities in the United States, car alarm sounds are ignored because most of these alarms are accidental. They are either caused by vibration, thunder, passing of a large truck or of individuals innocently touching the car. And most people in some cities in the United States ignore or do nothing when they hear the sound of a car alarm. Because of large portion of car alarms are false alarms or accidental, car alarm system manufacturers are no longer producing simple noise making car alarm systems. As a replacement for these noise making car alarm systems, car alarm manufacturers are now producing silent “immobilizers”. Immobilizers are electronic devices that are installed on a vehicle that prevents the engine from running if the vehicle is inserted with the wrong key. After the innovation of the immobilizers, sophisticated car alarm systems now feature “vehicle tracking system” that enables law enforcers to track stolen vehicles which is very much more effective than immobilizers. On the other hand, these advance features (immobilizers and vehicle tracking system) can not prevent theft of some articles or equipments inside the vehicle or vandalism of the automobile.

An ideal car alarm system must have the two above mentioned features and sensor that could detect vibrations and pressures of the car. Sensors like a shock sensors triggers the alarm when something or someone moves or hits the car. Some car alarm systems have loud alarms, concierge system, locking steering wheel system, cellular phone alarms that call the police, engine lock system and fuel lock system which prevents fuel from the engine.

Aside from car alarm systems, having a large and heavy gauged steering wheel lock is a good idea in preventing car theft because it will give the car thieves a hard and tiring fight just by removing it alone.

Having a home security alarm system is one of the best ways in protecting your love ones and your property. Having a pet dog gives you additional protection aside from the home security alarm system. But for those people who cannot afford (not in the financial terms of course) a dog on their household, having an electronic barking dog alarm system would be a great idea.

Dogs require lots and lots of attention. You have to feed them and care for them. Although having a dog on your household is a good idea because dogs give companionship. Dogs are fun to be with. But for those individuals who are always on the go, and has little time to spend at home or those who are at home just to sleep and rest, an electronic barking dog alarm system provides additional protection on your home.

Even if you have a home security alarm system installed in your home, there is always a possibility that your security alarm system and physical obstacles (such as walls, fences, etc.) might be breached or compromised. An electronic barking dog alarm system is a great way of protecting your home. Electronic barking dog alarm system has some features that cannot be found on some dogs. Most electronic barking dog alarm systems are equipped with electronic radar, which enables the system to detect any unauthorized entry through thick walls, doors and glass.

As most people know, dogs are one of the number one adversaries of burglars, thieves and almost all bad elements. With the electronic barking dog security alarm system, whenever an intruder or intruders approach your home, an electronic barking will then be set off when the barking dog security alarm system detects any intrusion. As the intruder gets closer, the barking will get louder more frequently, thus sending shivers on the intruder or intruders making them think twice before proceeding on their intentions.

Some electronic barking dog alarm systems have other electronically produced sounds, such as a soothing sound of the rainforest that will inform of the arrival of unexpected guests. The barking dog alarm is also accompanied with a loud siren that will scare an intruder.

Electronic barking dog security alarm systems are very easy to install. In fact, some of these electronic barking dog alarm systems are very handy and require no installation. Some of these barking dog security alarm systems can be carried with travel. You can activate them on your hotel room. You can also set the sensitivity of these barking dog security alarm systems for distance and volume controls.

But no matter what the features of these modern security devices are nothing beats the companionship and security a “real” dog gives.

What is worse than burglary and theft in your property? The only candidate would be fire. If burglary happens on your property, at most all your valuables would be stolen. Cases of fire will not only decimate your valuables, your property will be razed. That is the most horrific nightmare of households.

True enough, property owners (households and offices) invests more in fire security and prevention than in thievery, even banks and holdings of valuables. Why, because fire is now also an element that burglars and thieves use as an accompaniment for their sting. Of course, burglary is still an important factor.

In effect, most total security units now include burglary and fire alarm system. Such systems supervise doors, windows and large spaces that would require such devices, e.g. theft prone areas (entry areas) and high fire risk areas like the library and the living room, especially above the carpets. Some total security units also include a 24 hour monitoring service that charges monthly dues.

Due to their relatively high cost, these total alarm systems are only found on homes that clearly could afford such. Smaller conventional households will make do of a smoke detector and a tank of fire extinguisher. But don’t be hasty to discredit smoke detectors. Though very cheap, they are very, very reliable and often would warn the earliest signs of fire.

So why pass up the prospect of protecting your homes. For only $22 you can make one room fully prepared to meet fire accidents. (Actually, it only goes off, you still have to manually operate the fire extinguisher). Of course these type of fire alarm systems goes hand in hand with a fire extinguisher, which is yet another essential. Why, most fires can be extinguished with water (or cushion or mat, as long as it ‘smothers’ the fire) but some fires DO get bigger with water, in fact grease fires are really dangerous if applied with water. Thus, fire extinguisher should it be.

There are two types of smoke fire alarm systems, and each one has a design specific to the area. Ionization detectors are the cheapest (the one I’ve mentioned) and the easiest to install, the easiest to maintain but is more likely to generate false alarms due to their sensitive nature. Ideally, ionization detectors are to be installed on rooms having volatile materials and photoelectric for rooms having heavy furniture that smolders before bursting into flames.

While most fire alarm systems is use today are smoke detectors, other models make use of heat and temperature to detect the presence of fire. In some cases like gasoline and alcohol burning, these fires produce little smoke which may not trigger the smoke detectors immediately. Accordingly, these types are to be used.

Fire is one serious household accident that may or may not come during your lifetime. Just because there where no such incident before doesn’t mean your home is immune.

How can you compare Home Alarm Systems?

When you say state of the art, you always mean something wicked. In the alarm system parlance, state of the art means a lot. With every feasible implementation now imbedded into alarm systems, sometimes operating the home alarm system installed at home makes me shiver like when operating the TV remote. Half of the buttons I don’t know, half of which I have some inkling while the other half I swear I won’t touch. Have home alarm systems manufacturers gone mad?

Home alarm systems are now capable for every situation that ultimately it falls to whether you need the entire extra. Not to mention the staggering price tag it eventually would have. There’s no Ethan Hunt to defeat here, so there’s no need for those ultra-modern gadgetry that can shame Microsoft. True, when safety is at stake, you are more than ready to shell out more funds. Even then, you still don’t want to pay for those loaded antitheft alarm systems with gizmos you won’t even bother activating. So join me as we scour the existing markets to compare home alarm systems that are just about right.

Home alarm systems come with 3 distinct categories. They are the burglar alarm, fire alarm, and the personal health alarm. First let us compare home alarm systems aimed to burglary. There are four basic types to burglar alarm, simple alarm, localized alarm, automated dialer and monitoring systems. Depending on the gravity, the system that provides the best protection is the monitoring, the least is the simple alarm. Standard homes make do with the localized and the dialer; some designs have implementations of both. For this topic, we compare home alarm systems contained to the 2nd the 3rd type.

Rex Plus Electronic Barking Dog Alarm

This product emulates a convincing bark of a true to life angry German shepherd. Even the most seasoned trespasser will have second thoughts facing a large dog. For added effect, the closer the intruder attempt to go the more heated and threatening the bark will become (using radio waves to detect the intruder). This barking dog alarm system is at $79.95.

X10 Barking Dog Alarm System

This alarm system is yet another of the increasingly popular dog-bark alarm that can be remotely controlled. The alarm can still be triggered by motion detectors. The keychain remote can be used to produce chaotic barking much like a real dog. The best feature of this model is the automated light control. To effectively emulate occupancy, after programmable delay selected lights are turned on whether it is the bedroom lights or the lawn lights. This barking dog alarm system is surprisingly cheap at $59.99.

Driveway alarm system has become a redundant to nifty little gadget. Why, because with them I can spot visitors (unwanted or wanted) far before they hit my front door. Courier, morning milk, no one wants to miss those. Your boisterous neighbors or your shameless in-laws, driveway alarm systems can get you ready long before they began stomping on the porch. Think how else could you get the opportunity to turn off the television and sneak upstairs. Or lock the refrigerator and larders before they began raiding it bare. Nifty little gadget, don’t you think?

Technology made it possible for driveway alarm systems to go wireless, thus increasing coverage area and decreasing probability of discovery. Because casing robbers will eventually check for motion detectors and wires do point out a sign that usually says “yes, cut me just right here”.

Why, you could now listen to the gossip that takes place within the boundaries of your fence thanks to the 2 way voice communication device that is included on most models. Then you could just share that cheesiest tidbit of gossip you always want to let out. Or you could crank up your disc player into the communication device if you found out that the gossip was about your latest exploits.

“Okay, that’s the farthest you can go. Yes, I’m talking to you, on a polka dotted sweater.”

The wireless motion detector of the driveway alarm systems is real handy indeed. Not only will the polka dotted gatecrasher be notified that it’s your property already, you’ll be notified who approaches; especially effective if coupled with a camera. With multiple motion sensors, your entire backyard will be covered. No mouse can penetrate your hole without passing your intense scrutiny.

Ah, so you see a problem. Well it goes like, what if a cat and a dog and the aforementioned mouse decides to have a little get together picnic on your lawn in the middle hours of darkness. The blaring band parade that goes on and off (or which ever sound you choose to be your alarm or ringtone) will definitely keep you awake. Thankfully, most modern gadget now includes a weight and mass recognition that will allow it to identify the source of the disturbance. Of course it is reprogrammable so you can choose the weight of the trespassers before the alarm goes off.

Infrared alarm system is the most sophisticated of all security alarm systems. It detects motions or movements of an infrared producing source, which is usually the human body. All things (be it living or not) emit infrared radiation. Infrared radiation can not be seen by the human eyes but can be perceived through electronic devices designed for detecting infrared radiation.

In an infrared alarm system, infrared detecting devices are placed strategically and inconspicuously on a room or hallway. These devices send out infrared beams through the room or hallway. The infrared beams are sent out in layers. The upper most of these layers goes about over sixty feet straight and goes thirty-five feet sideways. The center layer of the infrared beams spreads in the room midway while the lower most layers sweeps the area near the detector.

Each of these infrared detecting devices calculates the infrared temperature of area the beam lands on. If there is a sudden change of temperature the infrared alarm system will then analyze the change in temperature if it is enough to trigger an alarm. For example if you walk in front of a painting (your body temperature differs from the painting), the infrared alarm system will then detect a violation of the temperature and then will eventually set off an alarm.

Infrared alarm systems do not trigger an alarm if the room warms up and cools down slowly. Infrared alarm systems have a built in microchip that enables the infrared alarm system to adjust itself for slow and regular temperature variations, so that the infrared alarm system will not be set off by a change of climate.

The sensors of the infrared alarm systems cannot detect thru walls and windows because it will only calculate the infrared temperature on the first thing or object the beam lands. Most of these infrared detecting sensors are small and inconspicuous.

The only setback with infrared alarm system is that this system is very expensive. A single infrared sensor device can not protect the whole house. You will need lots of infrared sensors to protect the whole house. If you want to be more protected have one infrared sensor device in every room of the house. The ideal location of infrared sensor devices is on the ceiling so that it would have a full three hundred sixty degree look on the room.

If you have a pet on your household, there is now an infrared alarm system that features “Pet Immune Motion Sensors”. These highly advance systems will not set off even if your pet roams around the house. The infrared sensor devices of these systems will memorize the weight of your pet’s weight.

Having a well designed infrared system is a good way of protecting your house or establishment.
